RIP Vanisher.
Ariel, Kurt, Vanisher all dead. Magik trapped in Limbo. Karma crippled. I love this feeling of danger, that of anything could happen.
Um... why are all the teleporters being killed?
@3rd comment:
To isolate Hope. Cyclops explained it in this preview. They want her in one spot for easy picking.
Isnt't Cloak a teleporter? And what ever happened to Lila Cheney?
yup they want Hope and the remaining mutants isolated with no where else to escape to as Bastion moves in for the final kill.
@7:34 Anonymous - Cloak and Dagger left the X-Men shortly before Second Coming; as for Lila Cheney, who knows? No one has seen her since the X-Men entered the "Reload" era (aka the Whedon/Claremont/Austen era).
This preview is already miles better than the Uncanny issue from this week! But I can't help noticing a small mistake: Domino is in San Francisco asking Scott about Cable's return and Nightcrawler's death, but Fraction's issue showed that she attended Kurt's funeral, so she should already know that.
Unless she wasn't supposed to be in the funeral scene and Fraction and Dodson are the ones who messed up. I wouldn't doubt if someone told this was the case (I still love Dodson's art, though).
good thing our lady lost her shadow porting powers... or else she'd be toast too!
Oh Man((((( vanisher was interesting, what the hell???????? I hate that he's dead.....
Bit off they would show him being killed in the preview, and he was one of my favourite characters. Maybe the bullets missed his vitals?
Im guessing the funeral.
Whats the deal with Domino and Cable werent they an item? why is she banging Wolverine nowadays? and I thought Wolverine had a new human girlfriend?
hope they would kill pixie too...I mean...teleporter...annoying...fugly...helloooo!!!!
Domino and Wolverine aren't doing anything with each. Where'd you get that sentiment from? Dom and Cable ended on a bad note during Cable's manipulative streak during Cable and Deadpool. They haven't been an item since. And yes, Wolverine is with Melita now in his solo book.
Dom and Wolvie had some no strings "fun" in New X-men annual set in Hong Kong. Dont know what her status was with Cable back then but she is romantically kissing Wolverine in the Sex and Violence mini cover.
Maybe this happened right before the funeral which would explain Domino being there. I doubt the Vanisher is dead...he's been around since the 60's, I think he's one of those pesky characters that keep coming back, even though it appears that he is dead.
no it's not before the funeral it's just that these writers are making mistakes in between each book just like how colossus was inside showing kitty dvds instead of outside arriving with the rest of the alpha team in between x-force and uxm.
but vanisher isn't dead. they wouldn't kill him for real in the first few pages because they know it's a preview page. and they want him to stick around because he's shady even though he sucks as a character, those writers like to hold onto their b-list wannabe characters. just like they wouldn't kill pixie. just good old people who are walpaper now like kurt. these new writers just want to make their own characters happen.
Yeah, I want to doubt that they'd show Vanisher dying in the previews... but then again, this is Marvel. Weirder things have happened. As for Pixie... I can assure you that the originators of her character aren't pushing her down our throats. It's Fraction and Kathryn Immonen. Fraction, for some unknown reason, thinks that Pixie is some unique mix of Jubilee and Kitty. I don't know how or why, but he does. Not even Kyle and Yost tried to promote her further than she was actually worth.
I don't have a problem with changing things up, but
it is all about new ideas that go nowhere. I think that there have been so many "ideas" that have been infused into the x-books that they have been written into a literal corner. They need to get them the hell off that island for one, I would rather have seen them go underground and dissapear from public view somehow, instead they were made more public and exposed.
They have killed off most of the mutants, but there are still too many of them in one place so it seems like there are millions. The "rolling roster" idea does not work because it results in no development for any of them.
If Marvel had real balls, they would have made Emma finally betray the x-men and be at the center of all that has happened, but she is too much of a cash cow. So instead, lets kill off one of them to let our readers know we are serious, any one will do, except for Cyclops, Emma or Pixie.
Anonymous above me said it so right. Also someone else mentioned that the writers are making so many mistakes between each book.
I totally agree.
I'm not buying anymore of the Second Coming Storyline after that horrible #524 issue. I may buy the Legacy issues, seeing if any previews for the next one will show Carey writing people actually grieving etc, as opposed to Fraction's terrible terrible writing of the Scott & Emma show.
But I'll still keep coming here to read about Psylocke!
Maybe Vanisher made the bullets in his body vanish...
Hey marvel just posted some new up and coming 70th anniversary trading card things, here's the links to the ones Psylocke appears in:

Is Emma a cash cow now? I don't think of her as one and Marvel don't advertise her as one. She's just the female lead of the X-men, and that's about it (and only really in Fraction's book). She does less now than she did during the Morrison/Whedon days, so I really don't think she's crossed that threshold yet. I think Jean, Storm, and Psylocke still have a firm position on that role outside of Uncanny, especially in recognition. Of course, Emma is morphing more and more into some random hybrid of herself and Classic Jean Grey, so she may be closer than I have been giving her credit for.
I have to hand it to Fraction. He's made me severely dislike Beast, feel disdain towards Scott, feel indifferent to Psylocke, and actually tolerate Emma. That's quite unique for one individual writer to do. At least we can all be assured that as long as Psylocke has her "simpler/less confusing" powers, she'll always be around to be used as a portable flashlight.
But really, it's been crossing my mind a lot lately, but we're almost halfway through Second Coming and not one writer has given us anymore details on Hope. Hope was impossibly skilled all throughout "Cable" to the point where Cable was passing out all the time and she was doing the majority of the fighting. Why has no one gotten around to actively using her in a role that's not such a feminine "damsel in distress" position? Why not put her in situations where her TK/TP powers are pushed and she starts to realize more of what she's capable of. I really hope they don't wait until the last arc to start developing her again.
Hey, since many comments are still talking about Fraction's chapter from this week, let me ask you people something: did Ariel get any mention at all during the issue? Did anyone mention during Kurt's funeral that she was also killed in action? Or is she already completely forgotten by her fellow mutants?
We see that Scott mentions to Domino in next week's Wells chapter that Ariel died, but I'm talking about her getting any homage, even if it's just someone saying: "I'm sad that Ariel died, we'll miss her, amen."...
@Fsaker,
No one else is mentioned during Kurt's funeral. The last words of remembrance to Kurt were kinda... bad, so she may have gotten lucky to have been forgotten.
That will be a miracle if Ariel is still alive (from using the car door), but she is staying under the radar and did not tell anyone, so Bastion would not know that they had another teleporter. I highly doubt that though, just me imagining again. I also agree, I don't think they will show a death in the previews, maybe Vanisher is still alive...?
I am still a bit angry that Emma had taken a perfect spot for Betsy to give some words for Kurt. I blame Fraction for that. Hopefully, Betsy gets a larger role in saving Hope. X-Force is the only issue that gives her a good amount of panel time.
I'm not surprised Fraction gives all his favs a line or a moment in everything. Don't think Emma was ever that close to Kurt and look at how cold she was to Betsy when she came back from dying.
Emma isn't even Emma anymore. It's funny they don't want to bring Jean back, but they are forcing Cyclops & Emma on us so hard and Emma is becomming nice and caring. She has hardly any snark left and is a shell of her old character. And they try to make her "bad" sometimes but Fraction honestly believes she's always done everything for the greater good. So even though I hate Fraction, I think this new Emma sucks as well. Emma is supposed to be very different from Jean and now she is just her slightly sluttier clone.
