CBR: Matt Fraction was happy to jump into the fray to answer questions from fans in today's X-Position.
Mr. Fraction, I believe you stated in an interview that you kept Psylocke Asian to retain ethnic diversity in the cast. I assume you do know that Betsy Braddock is basically an upper class British white woman wearing an Asian body, right? That quote from you has bothered me, and I was hoping you could make me see how a white woman made to look Asian represents any kind of ethnic representation at all...
Matt Fraction: Gosh, what could possibly sound too negative there...? The entire point of this "resurrected" (that's not quite the right word, but I'm going with it) Psylocke is that she's a synthesis, a true synthesis, of both aspects - both individuals - that made up the character in the past. Far from being "an upper class British white woman wearing an Asian flesh suit," as you say, this Psylocke, as seen in "Sisterhood," is something else entirely. Something new. What started in "Sisterhood" continues too; she'll be wrestling with her identity, on numerous levels, in "Uncanny" and elsewhere in the X-Universe soon.

While I'm tired of the whole "identity issues" with Psylocke's story and characterization (...I was hoping that the Psylocke Mini would finally put all that to rest), I am cautiously optimistic that this statement from Fraction may be a hint that Psylocke will, in fact, be part of the new X-Force.
At the very least, we know that she'll still be a part of "Uncanny" and another outlet of the X-Universe.
Uh, didn't she already resolve her identity issues in Yost's mini series? It would be nice if Fraction read what his fellow writers at the X-titles write sometimes...
And who is he trying to fool by saying Psylocke will be shown wrestling with her identity in Uncanny? I guess it's pretty clear by now that his only interests in Uncanny are Scott, Emma, Namor, Magneto and MAYBE Hope. He even promised that Kitty would play a big part in Uncanny past Second Coming and I doubt that. Psylocke will most likely appear in random fight panels, or with her ass facing the readers while she says "As you wish"...
Oh well, maybe Gischler (is this how his last name is spelled?) or Carey will have more interest in writing her. And yeah, Fraction's last line seems to imply she will be a New X-Force member (I hope she gets a new outfit for this team, even if it's just a variation of the typical bathing suit... and she NEEDS to have a mask!!).
Has anyone seen this awesome brithis Betsy minimate that toys r us will be releasing.

These writers always talk such trash, remember the Colossus, Psylocke and Nightcrawler would go through an ordeal that would make the 3 stronger? when did that happen exactly? O__O
Its all just hype baloney i'll believe it when i see it. She resolved all her baggage in the mini and is making a new start already.
So happy!!!! It surely (I hope) means that Betsy is being in X-Force! Hope her costume is like the current ninja one but only black with grey details and legs coverded....king of a mixture of the ninja suit with the wetsuit...with cleavege please! plus mask, grey sash, purple long hair! perfect!
Yay for the minimate! Wish tey release now a boxed set with outback rogue, dazzler, longshot and Wolvie, Storm or colossus! would rock!!!
It would be wonderful it they realeased an outback line can't forget havok, and Betsy must have her purple masked armour costume.
somthing like this would rock for her x-force costume

but with a grey sash, legs covered and a mask and no scar of course!
Besty will be a great addition to the X-Force team. They need a telepath anyway, and besides, Betsy has the combat skill and hard edge to fit well with other teammates, especially Wolverine and X-23.
Wow Fraction does not know what he is talking about.
And this is the guy we are paying when we buy issues?
Wake up people all he cares about are his "axis": Emma & Scott. I don't know if he researched anyone that he didn't understand.
It's a shame.
and Yes! She id do just that in the Psylocke mini, & I enjoyed it so much more than any of Fractions other "writings". SO BAD!!! SO FAIL!
Even if Claremont messed her up in places, as some might think, I think he is the only one that knows how to write her. Yost did a good job, even though he wrote her powers as quite weak perhaps. And Carey seems to do an excellent job out of any of the contemporary writers, but I have to hand it to Claremont. Just re-reading the New Age TPB's where she features (beginning with her return in 455 obviously) says a lot.
Even looking back further, it just shows that no other writers know much about her history. Do you think any of them would actually read the issues of Captain Britain & co from 1976 to 1986 before she debuted in the American comics?
Here's hoping Claremont gets to write her again. Or that the writers will get some brains, rather than think with their pockets.
