Rahsaan said...: Do any of you know if this is true? ScreenRant sometimes has totally false information. If this is true, I would love for this original plan to be revisited. Especially, if it finally gets our team back in Earth and makes all this Otherworld stuff worth it and relevant.

Jaime Braz said...: @Rahsaan Tini Howard's plotting has me suspicious that the Siege Perilous will reenact the past Master Mold and Nimrod trick resulting in Bastion. Alan Moore will be the least thrilled if that happens to his Fury.

Unless the new Everforge Furies are of another dimension thanks to the Mapmakers razing the old Otherworld and creating its new advanced kingdoms. The real Jaspers Fury lurks somewhere and the new Furies will fill another role in the Hickman bigger picture.

As for recreating the kiss moment but replacing Alex with Rachel... I wouldn't be against it; I'm just not sure if there will be enough character development by then to make such a moment believable.

Rahsaan said...: @randy, if Tini stays in canon, Elizabeth should not be able to telepathically trick Rachel into the Siege like she did the other X-Men as Rachel's telepathy is either more powerful than or as powerful as hers, no? And I still want a revisit of Alex and Bets' tension.

@Jaime and @FSaker, the incestuous part is that the writers continue to have Betsy attracted to Summerses. However, maybe it's not really all that incestuous and is something as simple as biology and her being attracted to their features and pheromones which are probably similar genetically. Though, it is kinda tacky to hook up with a woman whose uncle and dad you wanted to hook up with and whose brother you did hook up with. She may as well get with Vulcan, Corsair, and Adam X next. LOL.

Everyone, what I'm inquisitive about now is if the Furies will align with Orchis' plans. I had previously said that they should have months ago on this same forum. And now learning that Claremont initially intended to merge Nimrod and the Fury instead of Nimrod and the Master Mold and that he intended for that amalgamation to be the Big Bad behind the Mutant Massacre and Fall of The Mutants has me thinking about how awesome that could have been despite how beautiful both the stories ended up. I hope the writers pick this idea bac up with Mad Jim Jaspers to boot as originally conceived. And I especially hope that we move on from the Arthurian lore once this mini-series ends!

Going back to the big kiss... Maybe we'll be surprised and it's not who we all think it's going to be? Maybe it's two completely unsuspected characters. I really think Rachel shoyuld be with Kate.; June 10, 2022 at 11:17 AM

X-Man said...: It depends on skill as well doesn't it? Rachel was defeated by Emma before because Emma was more skilled despite Rachel being a "powerhouse" in Rachel's words. When the X-Men first split into the Blue & Gold teams, I remember that Betsy masked Logan from both the Professor and Jean using her psi abilities (and turns out at the time, she only had half her telepathy as Kwannon possessed the other half lol). I do think Betsy is a very powerful psi though. Since then, she regained her full teleoathy and then "leved up" even more when AOA Jean unlocked her full potential. Kwannon even noted she can't do the things Betsy can do and remarked on how psychically powerful Betsy was in Excalibur. I also don't think Betsy will trick Rachel though, but not looking forward to anything Romantic between the two of them. I find it incestuous in that I found them to have a sisterly relationship in the past. Guess we'll see soon enough lol.; June 10, 2022 at 6:10 PM
X-Man said...: I forgot to say that even if telepaths might be of similar power strength, I do like the idea of each one having a specific strength in a particular area. For instance I always found Betsy to be more of a trickster psi over the others. Also in Dissasembled I noticed that Jean found it better to have Betsy use her skills to locate Jamie prime vs doing it herself, maybe that was due to Betsy being better at it than Jean? Their teke communicated and were blended so much so we can christen them siblings. The promise Betsy made to Kate to become a sister's keeper for Rachel strengthens the nature of their sisterly bond and reinforces the initial plan of Claremont to make Kate and Rachel soulmates.; June 12, 2022 at 11:51 AM

Revisiting abandoned stories is a what if incorporated to further the history of the X-Men. It's safe to say the new Furies can interact with Nimrod the Lesser and Omega Sentinel to escalate the war. The hound marks are absent after entry in the Otherworld. Rachel might be ascending to her true potential in the Otherworld the hub of all realities and she is made stronger thus the new fiery powers that should be of psychic energy.

It's true Betsy has shown better control of telepathy, illusion casting and psi energy. Jean might be a powerful telekinetic and telepath but often times Betsy exhibits mastery in those fields. The time Betsy psi
stunned and probed Sabretooth's mind to have a glimpse of Mr. Sinister, probed Jean's mind in Inferno and later Madelyne's, stunned Malice and manipulated her to choose Storm, when Betsy mastered to solidify psi energy into weaponry and ultimately destroy a psi vampire like Sapphire Styx to take her psi energy to fashion a psi construct body for her soul to live in.; June 12, 2022 at 12:10 PM

Personally, I don't think their time bonding in the White Hot Room was enough to consider them sisters. But the fact that they're close friends does make the idea of turning them into lovers seem questionable. For instance, I love Nightcrawler and I love his friendship with Betsy... so if a writer decided to turn them into lovers, I would probably find it weird, too.

Who knows... I guess if Tini Howard REALLY wants to surprise the readers, a good twist would be to have Betsy remaining single and uninterested in anyone. It's not like one needs to be in a romantic/sexual relationship to have a happy life and feel fulfilled (fanfics and fanarts aside, Street Fighter's Chun-Li - the lead female character in the franchise, may I add - has NEVER had a love interest throughout the games, and the recent games show that she's perfectly happy just teaching her martial arts to kids and taking care of an orphan girl she adopted, for example). And sure, she may fall in love with someone else down the line, but she doesn't need to do it right now.; June 13, 2022 at 3:14 PM

It is not your imagination. Roma has had a complete personality shift. Go back and read Fall of The Mutants and the first issue of the Outback era. She was nothing at all like this.
