Excalibur skipping another month already? They really dragging this shit out. Last time I felt this anxious for Betsy to have a new writer and fresh start was when she was on New Exiles

I really hope Excalibur is canceled and Betsy will finally be free from Howard’s clutches. I always preferred ninja Betsy but I was willing to give the new (old?) version a shot but man everything has been awful mystery in madripoor, disassembled, age of x-man, and Excalibur. I miss the days of Remender and Bunn where Betsy was a competent badass who had depth that made her complex

Its so strange Tini clearly references and is aware of Betsy before the swap she has literallt used a quote from Uncanny #213 in Excalibur #17 yet she writes Betsy like a complete moron.

When Betsy got her body back she forgot her brain.

I like the skips they result in protecting Betsy. Tini Howard doesn't want to write Betsy with power and guts. Betsy used her psychic weapons and powers with the butterfly once or twice. I'm disappointed.

Peter David and Zeb Wells have the talent to save Betsy. Leah Williams and Tini Howard have done the most harm.

When Hellions was announced with Wells as writer I knew it would be good lol the editors should have just let Tini write her Apocalypse book and given Betsy to someone else ugh just want this title to end already

Hmmm I loved Betsy in Disassembled actually. The physical and psychic warrior we all love.

The storyline at the end of Dissassembled was kinda weak, but I like how Betsy was portrayed. Especially her and Jean becoming a psychic tag team.

Mystery of Madripoor she spent most of the time in the "Asian Body". However, The minute she did get her original body back, she was already thinking of killing Magneto lol.

That's the badass Betsy I know.

Tini imo is the perfect example of knowing a character doesn't necessarily mean you know how to write them.

She knows Betsy very well.

She knows facts about Betsy the way a robot could possibly know facts about things like love, happiness, sadness etc etc. Allowing her to reference callbacks to past lines and stories, but like a robot, she doesn't imo "get" the character/emotion underneath those same lines or storyline callbacks, thus why it feels "off" and cold. She knows the lines, she knows the stories, she knows the facts, but she's missing the most important part, she doesn't "know" the characters.

At least imho.

I think Tini should be on a doctor Strange book or something. I dont think she's necessarily a bad writer story wise, she's just a bad one for the X-Men (or anything X-Men related) imo.

@X-Man Betsy is someone with conflicts she is a gentle butterfly with aggressive power and searches adventure and physical battle. You have to be a good writer to show the faces of Betsy the tender Betsy the wise Betsy and the aggressive Betsy. To know things like encyclopedia is nothing if don't put it to the paper. Brisson with Thompson and Rosenberg wrote the Disassembled X-Men and they did a better job giving us the real Betsy with the butterfly telepathy and punches kicks. Jim Zub was 100% correct to what Betsy was like when Claremont was writing her. Betsy is a telepath but she wanted strength and she would never want magic in her life that is why her role of Captain Britain sucks and isn't her.

She never wanted to be CB until Tini said she did 🙄 its just gross that she's blamed for stealing Kwannons identity and now she has her brothers

Betsy is screwed if Excalibur is ever cancelled right? Being "Captain Britain" only makes sense if there's a Excalibur book or CB solo around. Being CB automatically makes you responsible for duties in England/Otherworld. How are you gonna integrate a Captain Britain in X-Men, X-Force, X-Factor, etc? As soon as Excalibur ends/is cancelled, Betsy should drop the mantle or else she will be limited to being CB off-panel.

We're almost two years into Dawn of X, and no other writer ever bothered to have Betsy cameo in their books. Not even New Mutants and Wolverine which had stories in Otherworld. I feel like none of the current X-writers like CB-Betsy.

Because at this point Kwannon is Betsy. She has everything that was cool about her the visual, the signatures, the strong capable leader, powerful competent telepath, confident,... Betsy is whiney, hopeless, apparently new to life and wears a superman cape who the fuck wants that?

Nate X said...

Right. And this is a direct problem from the X-Office's approach to Betsy. Both Tini and Marcus have gone on record stating that Betsy and Kwannon were "split" recently. Like wtf, they have been split since 1993. They're treating Betsy as if she's a new character.

ScarletWitch said...

Because Tini Howard is a hack and doesn’t care about Betsy apparently according to someone I know that knows To says she’s always late on her scripts so poor To has to wait days with pages finished

Time has come for Betsy to reclaim what's hers. Psylocke, the butterfly and her X-Men status. The magic mumbo jumbo crashed so let it burn and have Betsy back in her Psylocke goodness. Revanche be Revanche and Betsy make peace with her as Psylocke. Have your cake and eat it Marvel.

Kiki M. Ishola said...

Ha! Hack I knew it. I could sniff the stench of inability covered by body dysmorphia, entitled mean white rich girl and fairy princess titles that don't belong to Betsy.

That might explain why Excalibur is skipping two months out of 4. She might not be managing writing two x-books at the same time. Luck for her, X-Corp is doomed to fail and end at issue #5.
