Excalibur #7 Spoilers

Spoilers: At the Lighthouse, Betsy asks for Rictor’s help to bury the Sword of Might under the ground. Afterwards, Betsy heads to Otherworld to keep an eye on Jamie and talk to Apocalypse. En Sabah Nur is accompanied by Exodus and reveals that now every mutant can walk through the gate to Otherworld. Betsy lets him know that she doesn’t appreciate all the mystery, and as a token of confidence, Apocalypse offers her his Grimoire texts. Apocalypse explains that he is need of a multipart dimensional component that can act as a homing beacon between realms and tasks Betsy to retrieve the Warwolves to that end. Betsy encourages Jubilee to let Meggan babysit Shogo while they head to the London Zoo accompanied by Pete Wisdom in search of the Warvolves. At the Zoo, they find out that that the Warwolves where bought by Cullen Bloodstone. Excalibur reaches out to Cullen and proposes to buy the Warwolves, instead, he offers a hunt. The next day, Betsy, Jubilee, Rogue, Gambit and Rictor head to Cullen’s Summer Lodge in order to hunt the Warwolves. As Betsy and Rogue easily slay two of them using their mutant powers, Cullen decides it’s time to turn the tables and hunt mutants instead.

I actually really enjoyed this issue. Only thing that would've made it perfect if is To had drawn it. Betsy showed glimpses of her old lethal side and Rogue was very entertaining.

Eh this issue was alright, I liked seeing Betsy show her lethal side for the split second that she did and the art wasn’t bad for being a filler artist. As an Avengers Arena fan I liked seeing that Cullen Bloodstone isn’t forgotten but the way Tini wrote him makes me wish he was. The pacing is still kinda off, but this seems like a small filler story so maybe that’s why.

Alright issue, nice to see Betsy show that just because she's the defender of England & Otherworld that she's still got her edge.

Side note: Whenever I see a Bloodstone in a comic I end up missing Nextwave. I'd love another mini. Or even Marvel to revive their horror line.

Interesting description. When did Cullen become evil? From what I remember, he was a nice teenage boy back in the Avengers Arena days (..."nice" may not be the best word, but he was one of the teens who wanted to get everyone off the island rather than escaping by murdering the other competitors).

For a brief time during Avengers Undercover he was with the Masters of Evil but ended up helping the Avengers take them down at the end of the series. I really didn’t like the way Tini wrote him in here because it’s not like his character at all.

@Ry, good point.

Another weird thing is that Cullen looks like a young adult man. Granted, we could consider that some time has passed since Avengers Arena/Undercover, but it's weird that he was a short boy the last time I remember, and now he's suddenly tall, with defined muscles. Did the story address it somehow (even if it's just a short line)?

He looked the same at the end of Avengers Undercover, so I’d say since Hazmat pretty much looks the same over in Captain Marvel he should look a lot younger than he does. When I first saw him looking at the art I thought he was someone else. It’s just laziness and I doubt the story will address it.
