This purple makes Betsy look like a real blonde underneath that thick treatment versus the indigo to black shading artists went for when she was Asian...

Agreed. I think Brian looks great with an edgier cut. Though, I think he'd look better with a tapered, more gradual fade than the stark contrast of complete skin fade.

As for Elizabeth, I agree that's this looks more natural for a blonde. Though at times, during her previous blonde incarnation, her dyed hair was dark purple. However, you're right. These shades below may have been too dark to achieve for someone's whose natural coloring is fair. Although, it looks good either way to me:
