Everything was wrapped up clumsily and in a hurry in the most predictable manner. Arthur and Mordred suddenly become friends. Merlyn just stands there doing nothing waiting for Betsy to kill him. FSaker said...: It's interesting how people in this blog are all saying that this issue (and this run as a whole) was awful... while most people on CBR's X-Books forums are commenting positively about it. I'm more inclined to believe in you guys: while I haven't read this issue (and I probably won't), judging from the spoilers written here, NOTHING seems to make sense in this story.

The (few) positive points I see from the spoilers and the pages shown in this blog are Betsy finally showing Saturnyne who's the boss, the fact that mutants who die in Otherworld now can be brought back (hopefully they'll restore Rockslide and Gorgon, ASAP)... and I guess Betsy and Rachel do look sweet together (even if their romance was developed very poorly).

As for the premise for the new title... *sigh* It seems Marvel has forgotten that all the times they tried to make a new Exiles-like team, the book was poorly received and cancelled shortly afterwards, so I wonder why they think this time will be any different. And that's considering that previous Exiles-like teams had alternate versions of big superheroes (including Dazzler's X-Treme X-Men team), while Howard's new book seems to have only Betsy and Rachel (both of whom have been VERY devalued as characters, in part thanks to her run) and Betsy's many alternate counterparts in the Corps.

What's more frustrating to me is, Excalibur left some interesting plot threads, with Coven Akkaba slowly taking over the UK while Pete Wisdom reforms S.T.R.I.K.E.; Howard could use this as the premise for the new title... and instead, she goes to an Exiles-like book, something that even Claremont failed to sell to the readers (true, Claremont's Exiles/New Exiles was pretty bad, but still).

Sadly, Betsy and Rachel are doomed for a longer time, so I hope that at least Gambit, Shogo, Meggan et al will be set free. At this point, even if they end up just doing one-panel cameos in other X-books or being sent to editorial limbo, that's still a better fate for them.; August 31, 2022 at 1:45 PM

Still it makes zero sense that the Death persona can be overcome as simply as that, considering the kind of hell Warren had to go through in order to break free from its influence or the psychological trauma Scott was left with even after Cable and Jean had successfully exorcised Apocalypse from his body. She used it on Remy like a psyknife and said any psychic could do it but it was the Starlight sword.. how is that sword psychic? There's always this vagueness to this ass writing.
