It's sad that this story isn't part of the main Marvel universe, while Excalibur and Knights of X are.

Agent Lizzie is awesome! And it sometimes makes me wonder if, whenever Betsy gets introduced in the MCU, maybe it would be better to have her as a STRIKE agent (either in a Captain Britain film or in a Captain Carter film - but since MCU's Peggy already passed away, it'd have to be either Sharon or a Peggy brought from an alternate reality) rather than being part of the X-Men... yes, I LOVE her as part of the X-Men, but she'd probably have more chances of making it to the MCU as a STRIKE agent (or as Captain Britain, but in that case, I hope they won't take much inspiration from Howard's stories).

It's sad that this version of Betsy has been more interesting and competent in one issue than 616 Betsy in the last 3 years :(

Shows it is not that hard to write an interesting Betsy!

@Eduardo, to be fair, that's not Betsy... that's Lizzie.

But yeah, I agree with you.

True, she's from Captain Carter's universe, but Betsy's essence is not that hard to be portrayed even in different contexts: her courage and creativity using her powers are trademarks.

Agreed @Eduardo. I like this version of Betsy. Though I miss the telepathy.

And the ironic thing is, all that talk about Betsy dealing with self-esteem problems in Excalibur being necessary to show that she's not perfect? Lizzie had this, with the miniseries showing that she had to deal with people looking down on her for considering that she was privileged and didn't deserve her position at STRIKE. She showed she has a vulnerable side, she has insecurities... but she carried on, anyway; she didn't let her personal demons stop her and put her down, like Betsy did in Excalibur.

Betsy didn't need the whole journey to "deal with her demons" in Excalibur because she had already did that - extensively - in the "X-Force trilogy" (Remender's, Humphries's and Spurrier's) - but even if she did, Lizzie's portrayal in Captain Carter shows that it could have been done much better, and taking way less issues to deal with it.

That said, I suppose MAYBE the new book coming after Knights of X may be better, depending on the direction it takes. Considering how Howard introduced Pete Wisdom's STRIKE team before moving Betsy to deal with Merlyn in Otherworld (and assuming that issue #5 will end with Merlyn being defeated and Saturnyne becoming Otherworld's ruler once again), her new book featuring Betsy could have her (either with or without the Captain Britain mantle) joining STRIKE to deal with Morgan and the Coven Akkaba's affairs in the UK (another plot thread that was left with no resolution in Excalibur).

Speaking of which, I was re-reading the Hellfire Gala stories from last year, and maybe some of you may think otherwise, but despite Coven Akkaba freeing Morgan and worshipping her, it seemed to me like they actually turned her into their puppet rather than giving her control of her own actions. If that's the case, it could be interesting to have Betsy free Morgan for real (she knows a thing or two about having other people taking away her control over herself) and have her become an ally and accept mutantkind.

...That's, of course, assuming that Howard does have plans for these unresolved plot threads on Marvel's Earth. Hopefully that's the case, because I'm not sure most readers will care for ANOTHER X-book with the heroes being stuck in Otherworld.

Rain in the dessert! Amen!

One should know how to write that is not Tini.

Nah she prolly forgot her yesterdays dinner.

@X_man, I miss the telepathy too and also the precognition!
@Fsaker, Morgan is a formidable opponent and your suggestion is very good, as how were handed Malice and Mystique, which affirmed the ethics code of Psylocke, showing she is indeed a hero who thinks of the greater good above all. The assassin issue was well handed in Remender's run.
Howard is stretching way too long the insecurities stuff.

Lmao well said

I feel at this point Howard was given the character Betsy in name only and was given free reign to create essentially her original creation. Sure the concepts of her family and her now vague what counts doesn't for Betsy anymore is all for Howard to decide and we are now at 3yrs and counting

I did enjoy this version of Betsy much more. Once Betsy is free of Tini, I will love it. I hate how people who want to defend her, hype up her terrible writing.

As creators, I wish that Tini, Jordan, etc. would engage people who respectfully provide redirectional feedback. It seems that they only take questions and comments from people who sing their work's praises. I still have yet to receive a reply to this tweet nor the DM I sent Jordan about the inconsistencies in how many artists still render Ororo despite Dautermann's very deliberate redesign which is a more suitable phenotype for the character based on her geographic/genotypic origin.

Perhaps Jordan and Tini might engage if any of you are willing to reply and tag them:

It's useless, @Rahsaan. Tini took a break from Twitter because she couldn't handle any criticism. As you can see from Tini's substack posts, the only feedback she receives is from Cerebrocast's discord, where her agent and his followers keep praising her no matter what.

This is real Betsy.

I love a sequel with Captain Carter Betsy Tony Stark and Harley.

I'm counting the days to collect the series because it is quality work and the feedback from readers is great. I'm also glad Betsy, despite her being an alternate version of her, is how 616 Betsy behaves and thinks. The story itself is not groundbreaking, however it is written well paced and entertaining enough to make you want more and actually buy the issues instead of a borrow read.

This twists the knife deeper based on how disappointing the Excalibur and Knights of X work of Tonight Howard is.

Correction on the auto correct it is Tini not Tonight.
