“For so long, my life has been out of control. Chaos and serendipity, wrapped in insanity. I have suffered, I have lost. Not just my life, but my very soul, my self. But no more. Now I know who I am.” – Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Braddock, daughter of Otherworld, mutant, telepath, telekinetic, defender of the realm and, above all, X-Man.

Color me optimistic or naïve, but I have faith that this Hickman run will actually be interesting and good.
Yeah, me too.
It's interesting to notice the four big moments considered in the HoX solicitation. I mean, with Marvel constantly reminding us of the O5 team, the first big moment is exactly the one where they were replaced with Storm, Wolverine et al (except for Cyclops). It's nice that the second one is "X-Men", which I assume refers to the Vol.2 book, where Psylocke was a major character. And the biggest surprise is to see New X-Men acknowledged as one of the four big moments, considering how hard Marvel tried to erase Morrison's ideas - which were brilliant, by the way (and while most readers pit Jean and Emma against each other, for most of Morrison's run they were actually a kickass telepath duo, and their interactions showed they actually liked each other).
If these four moments are where Hickman is getting inspiration, I believe he can bring something amazing. I just hope Psylocke will be part of it (but if she isn't... oh well, she wasn't part of Morrison's run either and I still loved reading it; as much as she's my favorite character, the presence or absence of a single character isn't what makes a story great or not).
@FSaker,
I’m not surprised by the omission of the O5. If I recall my research, the X-Men didn’t really take off until the All-New came in and replaces Havok, Polaris, and 4 of the O5.
And you are correct about Morrison and the relationship he portrayed between Jean and Emma. His run is one of the best X books ever.
As for Age of Apocalypse, I re-read it two years ago and, while it's an incredibly bad story, I can see why this solicitation mentions it as a big moment for the X-Men. After all, it was their first big story involving alternate timelines (something that became a tradition nowadays, as AoXM shows). It also featured an unusual dystopic environment (kinda like Days of Future Past, but much longer and without the quality writing DoFP had), and it was quite bold at that time to replace ALL the mutant books with new ones for four entire months.
I can see Hickman using AoA as some sort of inspiration for his books - after all, Powers of X is definitely an alternate reality. I'm still not sure if House of X will take place on the same reality as PoX, the main Marvel reality or a third, completely different reality (I mean, while PoX seems to feature brand-new characters, HoX has Xavier, Magneto et al - but they look quite different, so it may take place on a different Earth).
