Cullen Bunn and Greg Land Relaunch Uncanny X-Men featuring Psylocke

According to BleedingCool, Cullen Bunn and Greg Land will relaunch Uncanny X-Men, starting in October. Land last drew Uncanny X-Men when Kieron Gillen was the writer. But who will our Uncanny X-Men be? It seems it's Magneto, Sabretooth, Psylocke, Mystique and Fantomex. Quite a change. A rather bloodthirsty change. The tagline? “Bigger threats require more threatening X-Men.”

Other relaunches include:

Extraordinary X-Men by Jeff Lemire and Humberto Ramos featuring Storm, Old Man Logan, Nightcrawler, the young Jean Grey, Colossus, Magik and Iceman.

All-New X-Men by Dennis Hopeless and Mark Bagley featuring the young Beast, Cyclops, the X-23 Wolverine, Iceman and Archangel.

Old Man Logan by Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino.

Wolverine (X-23) by Tom Taylor and David Lopez.

Deadpool by Gerry Duggan and Mike Hawthorne.

Good news: Psylocke is still alive, YAY!!! Bad news: Land will be "drawing" her...

Nevertheless, poor Betsy will be in quite a difficult situation having four former villains as her teammates... one of whom almost killed her (more than once), and one other who broke her heart before (more than once).

It could be cool, though (to be honest, I thought some months ago how nice it would be to have a new Brotherhood with Magneto, Emma Frost, Mystique, Sabretooth, Toad, Juggernaut, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver - not as a group of villains, but as anti-heroes opposing the X-Men's pacifist approach in regards to humans). Let's see how this will turn out.

Get ready to see Elizabeth and Raven with perpetual orgasm faces. Hell, since both have had bisexual pasts, perhaps Land will put those orgasm faces to girl-on-girl use.

Awesome. I love the Psylocke/Magneto dynamic.

But I guess Psylocke is going straight back into her hand outfit? :/

Is it just me or I just heard the Angel will be coming back as Archangel in All New X-men?

Also, it feels like a huge letdown with these new writers an artists for the X-men. I really wish they do some justice for the new Wolverine book for X-23. It is as if Marvel is trying to make X-men look bad enough already, no offense to anyone.

Anyway, did you guys hear that Rick Remender is taking a break from Marvel. God damn it.

@Eric, I haven't kept up with All New XMen, but during Black Vortex, Teen Angel was transformed and powered up. He may just be renamed Arcangel to fit this new status quo.

Also, I just realized that Marvel wont' be putting Psylocke back in her original body lol I thought maybe there was a chance, but doesn't look like it. They just threw her at Greg Land and put her back in the hand outfit. It's 2009 all over again.

Gosh, so many heroes have not been announced...Kitty Pride, Emma Frost Gambit, Rachel Grey, Jubilee, Alison Blaire, Rogue, Havok...I still had some hope Sage would return too...
The Uncanny team is really unpredicted. Given the few characters, looks like there's plenty of space for all of them to be treated accordingly.
If I were gonna choose a uniform, i would like to see again that one from House of M with the dragon all around her body or the X-treme uniform.

Rogue will be present in Uncanny Avengers (yes, this book will still exist after Secret Wars), and considering the cover for the first issue of A-Force after Secret Wars, it seems Earth-616 Dazzler will be part of the team. There was also an illustration released for Daredevil's new comic book showing him next to someone who looks A LOT like Gambit, but apparently Marvel said it's a new character. As for Kitty, I guess she'll move to Guardians of the Galaxy?

But yes, there are many X-Men missing so far. I'm surprised Cyclops (the adult one) wasn't shown yet, considering that he was the face of the X-Men these past months. Despite being "drawn" by Land and apparently returning to the Hand bathing suit, Psylocke actually got kinda lucky, being already announced in a main book and with Cullen Bunn writing it (his Magneto series is quite good).

I already expected her to remain in Kwannon's body, to be honest, as Marvel apparently sees it as her "iconic" look. But I wonder if her backstory will be affected by Secret Wars (like, her past is altered so that she always had Asian features instead of going through the body swap). I still don't know if I would like that to happen or not. Plus, hopefully Bunn won't put her in any kind of bizarre love triangle (with Fantomex and Sabretooth, for instance) - in fact, keep her away from any romantic relationship with Sabretooth (unless we're talking about AoA-Sabretooth, not 616-Sabretooth who almost killed her twice), period.

Thanks for the info, Fernando!
The dinamics between the characters really sound curious.
Psylocke is the one in the team who has least blood in her hands and I do not have any clue on how this team could be brought together. Magneto series is indeed good, I trust Cullen's writing.
With this all new approach, let's wait for Psylocke's role in this team. Hopefully it won't be about her addiction (though I liked that plot) or her past. Let's move on, as an X-woman and as a person. An upgrade on her relation with Warren would be welcome.

You guys really think she'll have to wear the tired old ninja thing again? I know it's iconic, but Marvel seems to be all about reboots and upgrades these days. I have hope that there's a new costume in the works.

@ Brian: I so hope your right. Magneto, Sabes and Fantomex have all brand new uniforms. I somehow believe that this is just a cover.

I hope you guys are correct; maybe Land just got lazy when doing this cover art and the new Uncanny X-Men will have new uniforms (or at least will keep their All-New Marvel NOW uniforms - although Magneto can change his; I always thought his uniform with arms uncovered looked tacky).

But... isn't usually the artist that defines the new uniforms for the characters in his/her book? If Land is in charge of the UXM uniforms, I'm afraid they'll either be kept in their "iconic" uniforms, or the new costumes for Psylocke and Mystique will look even more stripperific than Betsy's Hand bathing suit...

(by the way, I actually like the Hand bathing suit, but it's frustrating how every other superhero is always changing uniforms while Betsy only gets new clothes for some time, then returns to the bathing suit...)

I really hope this is not throwing her back into her Hand outfit.
Also... a young Jean Grey?? Oh for crying out loud, Marvel!!
Am I wrong to suggest that everything jumps the shark?
We had a good run with Remender - it was even interesting to see the All female dynamic of X Men, etc.
This could be great. BUT if it is a true reboot, we may be learning a completely new version of Betsy, minus a body swap, etc.. Be prepared to meet a whole new character? (if this is a true reboot, a la DC likes to do.)
(also.. Can I be the first to say a Psylocke, Magneto dynamic would be awesome. Even Sabretooth. But this is a lot of punchy punchy guns ninjas kill squad to me. Just.. smh & hoping for the best.)

I haven't read Marvel in a while honestly, but like to check this site to catch up with the Betsyverse haha. Always love her. But I think I'm done.
& "asian features"... Can we just not? Does no one understand the offense? Can we just start over?

All my best!

Oh & LAND!? haha. Oh I'm done.

Love Betsy but . Oh

Good points. It's still unclear if this is really a reboot. Someone from Marvel did mention that all the story from before Secret Wars is still valid; they're not erasing the chronology. On the other hand, it does seem that people from other Earths got incorporated into Earth-616, like Miles Morales, Old Man Logan and the Squadron Supreme (plus all the Spider-Men/Women/animals/whatever). As for Psylocke, rebooting her origins to establish that she always looked the way she does now could make things simpler for new readers, but I think her backstory is so rich (even though quite convoluted as well) that I hope her origins and everything about her stay the same.

As for "Asian features", is this expression considered offensive? If it is, I am truly sorry, I only use it because I'm not aware of what the correct expression would be (in my native language, "traços orientais" seems to be quite adequate). Now, if the offense you mention is her body swap (instead of us writing "Asian features", "Asian body" and so on), I agree, but I guess there's no way for it to change now, unfortunately.
