Psylocke To Play a Role in "AXIS"

CBR: To bring some more clarity to the upcoming 9-issue event series, "AXIS", Rick Remender and Marvel Executive Editor Tom Brevoort are on hand for a special press conference call, ready to tease details for the crossover that spans "Uncanny Avengers," "Magneto," "Loki: Agent of Asgard" and more.

It's Remender's first real go at writing Tony Stark, and the writer noted that crafting dialogue for both Iron Man and Deadpool was very satisfying. Continuing on the Iron Man thread, Remender revealed there were big changes in store for Tony Stark and that events between the Iron Avenger and the Red Skull were percolating in the background. The writer called out Genesis, Deadpool, Psylocke, Rogue, Cyclops and many more as playing a role in the series. "Nightcrawler has a very big role in this," he said.

Written by Rick Remender,AXIS runs nine issues over three months starting in October and crosses over into several Marvel titles including Iron Man, Magneto, Loki: Agent of Asgard and Remender's own Captain America and Uncanny Avengers comics.

Great! Of course Remender wouldn't forget our beloved Ms. Braddock for AXIS. I'm also glad to know that Cyclops and Nightcrawler will be part of this event.

After the huge fiasco that AVX turned out to be, I'm always skeptical whenever Marvel announces a new event (especially one involving both Avengers and X-Men), and Remender's Uncanny Avengers hasn't been as good as UXF used to be. But this article really makes me believe AXIS can be an excellent event. Plus, Wolverine will be dead and Steve Rogers will become a frail old man, so these two can't ruin AXIS the way they ruined AVX.

Now all he needs is to announce the Fantastic Four participating of this event (Reed probably will be there due to his involvement with the Illuminati; I hope Sue will be there as well), and it will have all the potential to be EPIC!

Since October 2013, I had a chance to talk to Remender at a comic book signing. I told him that he did an incredible job in developing Uncanny X-force. I also told him that Uncanny X-force was the first and foremost my favorite comic book I have ever read where it led me to have an interest in reading comic books. I loved how he was able to bring some of his inspiration from Uncanny X-force to Uncanny Avengers. Remender tells me that he was honor and was also upset to let the series end. After reading Uncanny Avenger, I am very impress with the Red Skull resurrection and the Apocalypse twin's destruction. This series is tying up loose ends to his biggest break, AXIS. It seems that Wolverine's secret about X-force is about to be reveal where it lead to a massive outbreak in imprisoning mutants.

I am glad to see Deadpool, for once in his life, actually doing something extraordinary in saving earth. It would seem that Remender is picking back all the piece from X-force leading to ending the Red Skull's reign. He mentions about our beloved Psylocke, Deadpool, and Nightcrawler having a big part in all this.

In the end of our conversation, we ended up concluding about all the artist he had collaborated with Opena, Noto, White, and Acuna. Obviously, he tells me that Opena was the most talented of them all.

Answering Fsaker last comment, if you have been reading the Fantastic Four, they have been disbanded. It would seem that Reed have a lot on his mind right now. Doom is somehow playing a role in Axis with Reed's and Sue's daughter, Valerie.

Eric Ton, that's why I mentioned specifically Reed and Sue. The Fantastic Four doesn't need to appear as a proper team, but they could be involved in AXIS individually (Reed and Sue trying to get Valeria back from Doom, while Johnny and/or Ben try to help the imprisoned mutants in Genosha).

Oh well, but if they're absent, at least Psylocke is appearing in AXIS. And since Remender is writing it, we can be hopeful that she will actually do something in this event (unlike AvX, where she had a nice fight against Daredevil in AVX:VS but was only cameoing in the main event).
