MONET!!! FUCK YEEAAHHH!

I actually don't like Monet very much, and I think introducing a third telepath could not be a good idea, at leat for me.
I hope she is in Lady Deathstrike's team, but I doubt...

Oh my Goood! Monet!!
Excellent choice!!
Monet and Psyocke!!
Eager to see that coming!

Ugh! Are we seriously losing either Kitty or Rogue for that shitty hasbeen? The cast was perfect as it was, all-classic A/B listers, but now there's this z-lister detritus who's also a telepath and a bruiser. Fuck this bitch.

Monet?? Yuck.. the connection to Jubilee is there, and it makes more sense than Kitty, Rogue, or Rachel being on a team. But I am just not a fan of Monet, at all. The cast is becoming bloated.

Jubilee, Shogo, Storm, Rachel, Psylocke, Rogue, Kitty, Karima(?), Monet. I imagine Sublime is hanging around since he apparently has something going on with Rachel. Oh, and he will eventually bring Pixie in (he's mentioned he will get away with using Pixie as much as he can until she's a member), and he's already commented that Bling! will be hanging around too, UGH

M!!! I could not be more excited for Monet to join the team. A power house is exactly what this x-team needs. I'd like to think maybe Rachel and/or Psylocke could help her expand her telepathy, but I doubt she'll utilize it much. She was the only telepath on X-Factor and she only really used it for psi-scans and the occasional illusion.

I wish Tessa was around too...

Hm and Cluster seems to be already back...
Wonder how that will be brought into the story...

I was hoping for the Dazzler or Cecilia Reyes, but will give M a chance.

I like Monet, but she's kinda redundant for the team. She has telepathy, but so do Psylocke and Rachel (assuming Rachel doesn't leave the team after Battle of the Atom). She can fly and is superstrong, but Wood said that would be Rogue's regular powerset in this book (thanks to her borrowing Northstar's powers). And she's not as well-known as the other X-ladies in this book; I guess Dazzler would fit much better in Wood's X-Men. Although it's nice to have another black woman in the team (and it may be cool to see her and Jubilee together again).

Anyway, I'm curious about nu-Lady Deathstrike's Sisterhood (if I remember correctly, Wood implied that this Lady Deathstrike isn't Yuriko Oyama, right? Maybe it's Arkea operating a robotic body?).

As for UXF, I hope Revenant Queen isn't Cassandra Nova (I love Cassandra and this book is getting better, but she should make her comeback in one of the main X-books, not a satellite one). And one member will sacrifice something; if the sacrifice involves one's life, Cluster is probably the likely candidate (Marvel definitely won't allow Psylocke or Storm to die in a satellite book), but I guess the sacrifice will just involve something minor (like when Betsy sacrificed her sorrow).

@CmX - Well, there are writers who can handle a big team. Peter David had a lot of characters in X-Factor, and it was a great book (and all characters in the team had a decent participation in it). And since Kitty and Rachel may leave the book after Battle of the Atom, the cast may not be so bloated (although I'd prefer this book to keep its current cast, since it's composed of only A-list X-Women).

@Rahsaan Chisholm - Oh right, I forgot about Cecilia Reyes! Yes, she would be a nice addition to the cast, and she has a unique power (although Betsy's telekinesis can be used to project forcefields).

Unknown said...

Yes, FSaker. And Cecilia Reyes has that awesome brand of sardonic humor and she's a doctor with emergency training!

Ah figured out who the queen revenant is ... Has anyone else? Not sure how to hide spoilers so won't post?

Kikoken said...

Ah ok just read above now

randybear said...

True, FSaker, but I am just not interested in these c-listers he's injecting into the book. I liked the original concept of the main six ladies, but now, it doesn't seem to look like that any longer.

I just hope he focuses on the core team and doesn't shoehorn Pixie and Bling! in, too much. I loved Pixie written by Yost (kinda annoying, hyper, gossipy), but Wood doesn't write Pixie that way, at all. She's pretty bland.

Whatever happened to M's cute little, twin sisters who impersonated her when we were first introduced?

randybear said...

Nobody has really used them at all. I guess the editor's avoid them since it was a kinda confusing story if you didn't read Generation X. Even Penance (who is still around here & there) is hardly tied to M anymore or referenced.

Unknown said...

Wait! Penance still exists,CmX?? Is it one of the siblings or does the shell have life its own??

Unknown said...

The Penance shell I believe now goes by the name Hallow she was around forgot which book

Well at least when Rogue borrows her powers we will see her as the flying powerhouse that she used to be. I know that he wanted to show Rouge as a scrapper, maybe that is part of the reason he is bringing Monet in.

Vigmed said...

HMmmm... maybe this sacrifice is Rogue perma-absorbing Monet's power.......?

I hope not. I like Monet. But, y'know how Marvel can be at times.

FSaker said...

The sacrifice will happen in Uncanny X-Force, not in X-Men. In other words, Rogue and Monet are safe.

Whoever will make a sacrifice is one of the current UXF members: Psylocke, Storm, Puck, Spiral, Bishop or Cluster (maybe Fantomex and Demon Bear can be counted as members as well).

randybear said...

I would have loved the idea of Rogue permanently absorbing M's powers (minus the TP) and dumping her, but doesn't seem to look that way.

I have lost a lot of interest in Rogue since she lost her flight/strength. I don't see why Claremont got rid of it to begin with.

Matt L said...

I love Monet and am thrilled to see her staying in a book. It's been very sad to see X-Factor ending but so I'm glad she gets to hang around

Unknown said...

I don't think I'd consider Rachel an A-list X-Men, or Jubilee either, or adding Monet hardly makes the team less A-list.

And while UXF isn't a core title, I feel like Marvel views it as the 'main' Psylocke book. That's certainly how it reads.

Ive always wondered exactly how strong Monet actually is. Is she as strong as 90's Rogue was? Is she as strong as Colosus? Im looking forward to her joining up so I can find out!:) Love her by the way
