Wolverine's X-Men And Cyclops' X-Men For 2012?

BleedingCool: I have been led to understand by a reputable comics source certain details about the future direction of the X-Men books, post-Fear Itself, possibly towards the end of the year, but into the next.

Understand that this is as a result of a recent X-summit, but also that these are plans many months away from completion and the details are bound to change. It may indicate a certain direction to look out for, however.

I’m told the members of the X-Men are planned to be split into two very distinct teams and books, each with a different moral outlook, aligning along the traditional Xavier/Magneto divide. Scott Summers, Cyclops, will lead the Xavier-minded team, while the Magneto-motivated will be led by… Wolverine!

Jason Aaron will be writing a four issue extra-sized mini about Wolverine’s X-Men, with a different celebrity comics artist on each issue. Marc Silvestri is down for one and McNiven is another.

And look for companion mini-series focused on the setup of Scott’s X-Men, potentially to be written by current Uncanny X-Men writer Kieron Gillen.

And of course, Wolverine will stay in X-Force… and Avengers… and Moon Knight… and Wolverine… and…

If this means that I can read a major X-Men book without Scott being in it, I'm happy.

Wait, so Scott has the "Xavier-minded" team even though he has been clearly following Magneto's path?? Weird.

Anyway, if this news is true, go to Logan's team, Betsy! Nothing against Scott, I used to like him, but he's not a nice character recently (due to Fraction's handle on him... I hope Kieron Gillen can fix Scott. And Emma too, please).

Although I think it would make more sense to split the X-Men between Scott's team and STORM's team; she would make much more sense as a leader than Logan...

FSaker,

You're spot on! Storm's X-Men were a force to be reckoned with. Most of the Outback team's alreadyon Utopia. With Havok, Polaris and Marvel Girl in space, I say add Northstar, Archangel and Iceman, Gambit and Cecilia Reyes and we'll be good to go.

My Dream Team for the Anti-Cyclops team:

Storm (leader)
Wolvie
Archangel
Rogue
Psylocke
Dazz
Colossus
Shadowacat
Northstar
Doc Reyes
Gambit

Yeah. I realize that eleven members is a large roster, but much smaller than what Fraction has now and I think that mix of personas and powers would make for great stories. Hell, I'd throw in Marrow if she hadn't been de-powered.

Interesting idea...Betts still has her code of honor preserved as a warrior and does not defend slaughtering all enemies...But she herself commented on x-trem x-men that Xavier was too idealystic...So it would be awesome to understand her thoughts on this decision...on taking part on Cyke or Wolvie's team.

Oh, yeah. I forgot to add Iceman to my dream roster. Though, the more I think about the more I'm thinking Hellion might be better for this team than him... due to outlook. Or someone with a bunch of smarts, like a re-powered Prodigy. Yeah. My vote is for Prodigy as the twelfth member of that dream roster I posted. He's an underutilized character who had an awesome power and who still retains all his acquired knowledge and skills.

Cyclops can go retire with his wife Madelyne.. Oh wait....

Anyway Storm's team kicked Ass. The best team!! I haven't picked upa Marvel title in years (since Betsy disappeared from UXF somewhere in the 470s) then picked it up again only to be offered a pile of Craption in 508 (I think that's the number she returns in. I don't remember as I've sold them all haha). I actually went through buying them again until the horrendous Second Coming arc, in the episode/issue where Nightcrawler dies. Just awful writing & Greg Land is a killer.
So! Now I hear that there will be a big merger & that's great & all. Yay!! Hopefully Fraction never writes for this side & Cyclops will never feature in the Wolvie team haha.

Anyway... Go Storm!! What has that lady been up to!

Also, Rahsaan, that is a great roster. That's like 2% of Fraction's Roster in Uncanny (50% of it being Emma, Scott).
Oh Marvel. I urge you all to read Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing. Totaly off topic, I know, but this is *sort* of a comment/forum. Anyway, read that & you will know amazing writing!
I'm glad to see mention of Psylocke though I don't see her in the preview of UXF (but it's all good - Fantomex looks great & the art is wonderful!)

Thanks, QC.

I just thought of someone who I always have liked and who'd be a great addition to the Storm Roster... Vance Astrovik.
