Psylocke Mini-Mate

A Psylocke Mini-Mate is finally going to be created and released! She was revealed at the 2009 Toy Fair. As part of their "wave 28" also included are Deadpool and Gambit. Not sure when this will be released, I imagine sometime next year.

I'm not a fan of these figures, but I think it's cute!

San Diego Comic-Con 2009: Marvel Animation

Toon Zone was able to catch up with superstar voice actor, Steven Blum, and Marvel Animation writer, Chris Yost. Steven Blum currently voices Wolverine in just about every Marvel animation or video game project. Chris Yost is one of the staff writers for Wolverine And The X-men and his experience with both the comic book world and animation world is impeccable as he currently co-writes X-Force for Marvel Comics with Craig Kyle. From the looks of it, Psylocke might show up again on the second season of Wolverine and the X-Men.

Toon Zone: What's the thinking of bringing new characters in on the Wolverine And The X-Men series, what's the balance?

Chris Yost: Well, I think with a property like X-Men it’s such a rich, big universe. You're always going to focus on the core: Wolverine, Cyclops, Beast, the group that we know and love. And then to see familiar faces like Psylocke or Scarlet Witch, all these characters come in and interact with them. You know the characters we know and love are kind of like the gateway to meet new people. So as a fan, the more people that we can get in there the better, but we are always going to keep our focus on the main characters.

Steve Blum: I'm happy about that.

Ultimatum: Psylocke's Fate

Ultimatum #5, the final chapter of the Ultimatum saga, was released today. Even though Ultimate Psylocke's fate was left up in the air in Ultimate X-Men #99 and most of us assumed she had survived the massacre at the Institute, we now have confirmation of her death. There's a whole obituary section on the back of Ultimatum #5, and Ultimate Betsy is among the casualties. Boo!

San Diego Comic-Con 2009: Kotobukiya Panel

The future of the Marvel X Bishoujo Statue series was previewed with sneak peeks at two new character designs. Psylocke and Phoenix were formally announced during the Marvel Presentation at the Kotobukiya booth, co-hosted by Marvel’s Jesse Falcon. Following Rogue, the Black Widow and the Scarlet Witch, the Psylocke and Phoenix statues are coming in 2010.

Here are some teaser designs by artist Shunya Yamashita, that were printed in the Kotobukiya pamphlet. According to Kotobukiya rep Shingo Nakagawa, there was actually a poll conducted in Japan to see who they should do next: Psylocke and Phoenix!

With Messiah War concluded, X-Force is headed to a new crossover - Necrosha. The storyline will bring Wolverine's strike team in line with the New Mutants and Rogue's X-Men Legacy series. Selene is back, and is attempting to raise the dead of Genosha, a former mutant sanctuary that was annihilated by a massive Sentinel in Grant Morrison's New X-Men series.

Doug Ramsey Returns - New Mutants #6

"We have been going for this since our New X-Men run," said Craig Kyle. Kyle said Selene feels cheated by the Hellfire Club. He mentioned he and Chris Yost are huge fans and this is their chance to bring back characters that have been lost to them - including many they had killed. Selene is back and she's bringing lost parts of the X-Universe with her. Yost notes that this is the payoff for stories they've been building since the beginning, and that next month's issue starts to bring everything together. Yost also says it's shockingly violent.

Newsarama: With Psylocke's return—will readers be seeing more of Betsy in X-Force or less of Archangel in all of his apocalyptic glory (Newsarama Note: Due to Warren and Betsy’s history together)? 


Chris Yost: Psylocke is still getting herself established, so she's not going to be joining anytime soon... if she would even want to. And Archangel's in it for the long haul. X-Force satisfies the killer in him... watch him go off the rails in issue 18.

Newsarama: What can you tell us about the new arc starting in October? You know, the one before the big Bastion arc...the one with the name that'll spoil quite a bit.


Chris Yost: Everything will be revealed in San Diego, but it's probably the most ambitious thing Craig and I have done yet. We've been building to it for a few years now, but the time has come. If you've always thought the Black Queen should be a little more formidable, a bigger player... here you go.

Newsarama: Will there be a clear cut division in the X-Men via The Dark X-Men and X-Force in the near future?


Chris Yost: The end of Utopia X is a game changer. Matt Fraction has done an incredible thing. And yes, there will be divisions... X-Force cannot exist in the open.

Dark Avengers #7 Spoilers

Utopia • Chapter 3

Spoilers: At the H.A.M.M.E.R. headquarters in Alcatraz, Beast experiences the bad side effects of the Omega Machine. Norman Osborn argues with Dark Beast, because he was promised this machine would cause no harm. Meanwhile, the Dark X-Men battle the mutant rebels gathered by Hellion, and Emma's team easily defeat all of them. Cyclops arrives at Alcatraz and demands to talk to Osborn. Norman tries to persuade Scott in working together with him, but Cyclops tells him to surrender and get the hell out of his city, and that's his final word. As Scott leaves, Osborn promises he's a dead man. Inside the H.A.M.M.E.R. headquarters, the Dark Avengers are getting a little unpatient sitting there doing nothing, while the Dark X-Men get all the action. Cloak teleports all the prisoners and his teammates back to their HQ. Emma wants to be sure no prisoner is being abused or tortured, so she asks to see where the mutants are being kept. In the meantime, Bullseye and Daken provoke each other, resulting in a battle between both teams. Osborn and Dark Beast try to fool Emma, assuring that no harm is being done to the prisoners. Xavier senses Emma and contacts her telepathically. Charles tells her they're lying and that they're killing Beast. Emma aks to see McCoy, to which Norman replies that they don't have him. Emma then checks a cell that seems to be empty, but Xavier telepathically tells her she's looking at him. Turns out she can't see him because Dark Beast has installed image inducers. Emma promises Xavier that everything will work out for the best. At the St. Francis Hospital, Simon Traks entices his people into destroying all the mutants.
