Spoilers: After retrieving Antonio’s memories, X-Force finds out that he was blackmailed into stealing alternate reality tech for Volga, otherwise his family would be killed. Among the tech stolen was a serum that turns regular people into super-soldiers for a short time before it kills the users. The team tracks down Volga’s whereabouts and plan to assault his airship by surprise. Marrow tells the “baby” in her mind that her memories are blurred and she doesn’t remember much of her life before she was kidnapped. Sarah sees Volga’s airship and warns the others. Psylocke and Fantomex are ready to go in. Cable shoots the aircraft with a missile and opens a hole. Marrow enters and remembers that unlike Antonio, she was well treated by Volga’s staff. X-Force regroups inside the ship. Before realizing it was a trap, MeMe is taken down. Volga appears before them, tells Marrow she lost weight and orders his super-soldiers to deal with X-Force. Marrow remembers that she was dumped into Alexandria and that Cable saved her, but her “baby” was killed: she was pregnant. It seems X-Force and Marrow already knew this, and Doctor Nemesis had built a healing suppressor for Marrow to bury these painful memories. Volga then reveals to Marrow that she wasn’t kidnapped. She volunteered to the experience to get her powers back even though she knew all the risks of losing her unborn baby. Volga’s super-soldiers overcome Marrow, Fantomex and Psylocke and imprison them. Volga deals with Cable by himself and reveals that he injected Natham with the short lifespan serum. Volga doesn’t know how Cable survived this long. Volga places a detonator on Cable’s chest and kicks him out of his aircraft. Cable is left to die alone in the desert until he explodes.

Marc Guggenheim Named New "X-Men" Writer

Newsarama: Sometimes comic book writer and current Arrow Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim will take over the writing duties on Marvel's X-Men beginning with August's issue #18, the publisher announced Friday.

Guggenheim's first four issue story arc takes the all-female mutant team of Rachel Grey, Storm, Jubilee, Psylocke and Monet into space. Coincidence August is the month Guardians of the Galaxy opens? You be the judge.

"High above the Earth in the floating space station known as The Peak, extraterrestrial threats are monitored by S.W.O.R.D. – the planet’s alien counterterrorism and intelligence agency," reads Marvel's description of the story arc. "From the cold reaches of space, a familiar face returns. The ferocious Shi’Ar warrior Deathbird has landed on their doorstep, gravely wounded and inches from death. Unable to identify the who or what that caused her life threatening injuries, the X-Men are called in to investigate!"

“The idea really came from the fact I’d been jonesing for an X-Men in space story as a reader," Guggenheim explained. "I’d been re-reading the Brood Saga and it reminded me how much I love that concept of the X-Men in outer space. It’s a milieu that suits them really well.”

Spoilers: Fantomex seeks E.V.A. for guidance when he’s on the verge of an emotional breakdown. He tells E.V.A. about X-Force’s latest mission: chasing an agile, cat-controlling girl named Anaïs in Paris. Due to Anaïs enhanced senses, MeMe was the only one able to get close to her and deploy an odor-tag on the girl without her knowing. Fantomex chased her. Cable and MeMe watch from afar. He orders MeMe to shut down Anaïs communication devices once she starts detailing Fantomex to her allies. Despite his best efforts, Anaïs manages to flee using cats against Fantomex. Psylocke informs Fantomex of the girl’s whereabouts. Anaïs heads into the sewer, but Marrow blocks the tunnel. Fantomex starts chasing Anaïs again, but not too much avail. Cable then shoots Anaïs with a suspended animation bullet which makes it look like she’s dead; and X-Force cover up and wait for her allies to come to her rescue. Once they arrive, Psylocke translates whatever they’re saying in French as Fantomex reveals he can’t actually speak French. Anaïs’s allies call a “necromancer” who reads the brains of the dead so they can find out how she died. The Necromancer finds out Anaïs not actually dead, but Fantomex subdues them before they can make a move. X-Force take the Necromancer to heir HQ and make him read the brain of Antonio. The Necromancer finds out Antonio has been stealing technologies in other worlds on the orders of Volga. While E.V.A. listens to Fantomex’ story, she tells him his problem is that everyone [Anaïs, MeMe, Psylocke, Cable, Nemesis and even the Necromancer] outdid him in some way and he can’t come to terms that there are people better than him as he was programmed to think he is perfect. E.V.A. says his only solution is simply to murder anyone who’s better than him.
