“For so long, my life has been out of control. Chaos and serendipity, wrapped in insanity. I have suffered, I have lost. Not just my life, but my very soul, my self. But no more. Now I know who I am.” – Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Braddock, daughter of Otherworld, mutant, telepath, telekinetic, defender of the realm and, above all, X-Man.

Not related to this mini-series, but Psylocke appears in the trailer for the second season of X-Men '97 (which also got confirmation of a third and fourth seasons).
I wonder whether this Psylocke will be presented as Betsy or as Kwannon. I mean, sure, she mentioned having a brother back in the 1990s animated series, which would likely be Brian (even though they were also thieves, and it's hard to imagine the goody two-shoes CB Brian being a thief) - but if I remember correctly, neither her real name nor her brother's name were actually mentioned, so it wouldn't be impossible if the people behind XM97 decided to identify this Psylocke as Kwannon to keep the show in line with the current comics (and to avoid the body swap storyline).
Then again, this is a separate universe from the comics, so it's also perfectly possible that this Psylocke is Betsy and that she's either Japanese-British since birth (to avoid the body swap storyline) or that the body swap already happened and hasn't been undone in this universe. But if this turns out to be Kwannon, hopefully Betsy will also appear, either as Captain Britain or just as Betsy Braddock (or even, who knows, as STRIKE's Agent Lizzie Braddock; I'd love that).
I'm pretty sure there was a trading card that confirmed that version is Kwannon, but don't quote me on that
Judging by her previous appearance in the classic season, it's Betsy. She mentions her brother and lives in the UK (Disney Plus, Season 4, Beyond Good and Evil - part 2).
The creepy former show runner from season 1 said it was Kwannon during her 97 season 1 cameo which didn't make any sense with the brother mention in the old 90's show. Unless they switched bodies back off screen.
Or maybe Kwannon has a brother in this continuity, and she was referring to him, not Brian.
Still, if this Psylocke is indeed Kwannon, I hope the show runners will include Betsy in XM97 later on.
Not going to watch 97 season 2 if it's confirmed to be Kwannon. The way they've fully just replaced Betsy with Kwannon. This is another nail in the coffin for Betsy, season 2 will give A LOT more people exposure to Kwannon as Psylocke and now even with purple hair. We can't even say anymore that purple hair at least meant it was Betsy as Psylocke.
I dont see why they would include Betsy at all at this point, it would be kinda convoluted to introduce her after Kwannon, I doubt they're going to dive into all the CB lore. Not only do I doubt the wrtiers would want to even go though, I'd much rather see Betsy as her OG Psylocke or even ninja Psylocke not CB, sorry!
Either way if Betsy were intorudced as CB or at all it would be a cameo at best at this point, non-speaking background or some shit.
Maybe she could be introduced as Agent Lizzie Braddock of STRIKE? That way, Marvel would be able to tie XM97 with Captain Carter (who's already well-known in Marvel's animated works, anyway).
But yeah, I'd rather have Betsy as Psylocke and let Kwannon be ignored in this continuity. Who knows; maybe the idea of this Psylocke being Kwannon was dropped when the former showrunner was fired; I guess we'll have to wait until season 2 is released and see what they decided (or IF they decided anything; it's also possible that this Psylocke will just be "Psylocke", with no real name or backstory revealed).
