Philip Tan's piece is really good, lovely colours. Dodsons and Portacio's faces look weird :/ their bodies are good, but the faces... they're just ugly!
The Dodson picture looks like every single other female he draws if it wasn't for the costume I would have thought it was Emma, or Ms. Marvel, or Moonstar, or any other woman. I'm glad he is no longer on Uncanny.
Dodson's looks terrible. I usually love his drawings, but this one is bad.
Tan's and Portacio's look good. BTW, are this Philip Tan and former Uncanny X-Men artist Billy Tan (who actually got to draw Psylocke shortly after House of M) the same person? This art looks a little different from the usual Billy Tan's ones...
Portacio's version right here is pretty decent, but it is NOT an indication of how he draws on a consistent basis (which is AWFUL.) I mean, Gambit already looks like crap right behind her in this pic. Get him away from the X-books.
I dislike Dodson's Psylocke almost as much as I dislike Land's. Why does Dodson make his women so big-boned and chunky? Does he really need to give her Billy Corgan's cheekbones and Kirstie Alley's body? He makes her thighs massive. Betsy is supposed to be sleek and stealthy, not a freaking elephant. Also, her gave her a pretty fat nose. For heaven's sake.
portaccio is the most significant case of artistic involution. He was ok in x-factor, went amazing in x-men (gold team era) and now he sucks more than never....
Philipe Tan's looks pretty good!

ReplyDeletePortacio is horrible as always. Standard
ReplyDeletePortacio's is probably my favorite of the three. Reminds me of Adam Kubert's stuff.
ReplyDeleteI love Portacio's piece! And he heeled her boots!

ReplyDeleteWhat is with Dodson's face...is that actually meant to be a man in Psylocke-themed drag?!

Philip and Billy Tan aren't the same person.
ReplyDeleteWill we see Psylocke using her TK katana ever again???

ReplyDeleteOkay, the middle one is fairly good.

ReplyDeleteNice artwork! Cool that he decided to put Gambit with Psylocke! No wonder he looks happy!
ReplyDeleteI thought the Dodson piece looked like Emma as well, but it's still very nice!
