Beautiful panels. But wow... while mutantkind has worked so hard to dress up for the gala, I'm seeing some people in these panels who are definitely not dressed to attend a gala (or any kind of party, for that matter), looking like they just left home to buy groceries.
Kinda disrespectful. Not to mention the Avengers, Fantastic Four and other non-mutant superheroes wearing the same uniforms they wear whenever they're saving the world or fighting supervillains... I hope they at least had the decency of washing their uniforms before attending the gala.
Not to be that person, but the Hellfire Gala has been a waste of time so far. Nothing of interest has happened yet. Big filler. I guess they saved all the drama for Planet-Size. Meh.
I saw that now Marcus To is defending Betsy being OOC saying its not fun if characters always win or something to 5hat degree that they need to struggle to make stories interesting.... Betsy has always struggled shes a survivor and the underdog thats why we love her she always comes out on top even through the pain and experiences she's suffered. Yet we are supposed to be fine with OOC writing?
Also notice how everyone loves Kwannon? Is she failing in Hellions? Is she not coming out on top? She's doing nothing but winning and carrying her entire team overin Hellions and people LOVE her. So where's the logic there?
Can Kwannon or Storm fail? Would people accept that writing? Why does Betsy have to change and be diluted to such a degree and we are supposed to be cool? Irs been two years where's the fucking pay off this is just trolling to a high degree the writer and artist are aware of the complaints and instead of acting like they understand they are flat out saying we are wrong lol they will do no favors for the vocal fans so they are ok with continuing their smug narrative of how they think Betsy SHOUPD be... a brainless, incompetent has been who had to take her brothers identity when the woke mob came to take Psylocke identity from her

It's a phase as soon as manga destroys Western comics and Marvel gets reborn Betsy might be Psylocke. Twitter RPs and stans spend time hating and shitstormin not spending on books.

To be fair, Captain Marvel's film was quite successful, wasn't it? I could only wish Betsy's new Captain Britain identity could help her getting her own solo film and having a similar box office and critical reception.
Then again, their situations are quite different, since the original Captain Marvel has been dead for a long time now (and Marvel never showed any intention to bring him back, just like the original Thunderbird), and Carol's identity as Ms. Marvel wasn't hugely popular (plus, Bendis kinda portrayed Ms. Marvel as a joke), so she didn't have much to lose. Betsy has - and she's already losing... quite a lot, in fact.
@FSaker I'll spill home tea. My boo holds Brian Reed Ms Marvel like a Holy Bible. That's his go to Ms Marvel and Carol and I dig him. Carol was kickin @ss like Betsy before the Revanche comeback and her thievery. It's the thongkini for Ms Marvel Carol and Reed delivering the likes of Remender Betsy lines. The first Cap Carol flick was sandwiched between Infinity War and Endgame and they were like go watch you ain't you gonna lose game. A big lie.
As for To, well, each person has the right to their own opinion, but I strongly disagree with his. Betsy failing isn't the problem; the lack of proper characterization and the absence of any kind of payoff is the problem. Remender had her failing a lot, and people still enjoyed his stories.
I'm not sure what kind of payoff she could get at this point to make everything that happened to her throughout this entire run worth it. Having Saturnyne apologize to her and acknowledge her as the worthiest Captain Britain there ever was? I don't think I'd really care. Single-handedly defeating Galactus, or becoming the sole queen of Krakoa? None of this would matter (besides being ridiculous ideas).
But as long as To keeps providing gorgeous art for Betsy, I can't stop loving his work.

Exactly. Betsy had amazing moments against SK, UXF, Dark Angel all were obstacles she wouldn't be able to conquer alone but through sacrifice and selflessness has always got Betsy through her struggles even if it means costing her abilities or her life we have seen it.
What sucks is not that Betsy is failing its that other people are picking her up/pushing her (A, Kwannon, Jamie, Rictor) she is worthless and incapable of an independent thought she can't give her team answers when they need it etc its just a mess and as FSakee said what is the pay off here? Just watching her completely stumble over and over and on top of it run away and cry and wait for Kwannon to save her? People really confused why we aren't happy?

That Betsy and Remender Betsy with backbone had the tricks and wild charm not the Howard spineless cry baby. The fault is Howard has the impression Betsy is a spoiled white mean girl who sometimes lezzes out. I'm real mad Howard spoiled the Betsy and Rachel friendship with romantic bull for the Twatter wokeness to rage. You don't spoil women's friendship it's sacred you don't stoop that low. M-Day Betsy and Rachel were best sister energy.
Oh, I didn't mean to say that Carol as Ms. Marvel was a BAD character. She wasn't, and Reed's work with her was indeed great. My comment was just to point out that, despite being a cool character, she wasn't in the highest popularity tier of Marvel's superheroes; turning her into Captain Marvel was Marvel's attempt to have a female superhero on the same level as Wonder Woman in DC Comics (yes, Marvel always had Storm, but they were still throwing the X-Men under the bus due to FOX having the movie rights for the X-Men back then) - and while it's debatable whether she became a better character or not, she does seem to be much more popular than she ever was.
In her case, changing her superhero identity worked (at least in terms of character recognition). In Betsy's case? It's like you said: while I enjoyed seeing her becoming Captain Britain for a while, it's her brother's gig, not hers...

And while her case may be the most serious (thanks to taking the Psylocke identity to her and giving her a new identity that isn't sticking out), she's not the only one suffering in Excalibur. If we ignore each character's superpowers and pay attention to their personalities, Rogue and Gambit are basically Gambit's boring wife and Rogue's whiny husband, Jubilee is just Shogo's mother (just to be clear, Shogo is NOT the problem with Jubilee; the stories giving Jubilee no other trace of personality than being a young mother is the problem... Rictor is the only one getting any development, and even he isn't in a good state, with his personality being quite unpleasant (ironically, I used to consider him one of the most likeable characters in Madrox's X-Factor detective team).
If the problem were only with Betsy, at least we'd be enjoying the other characters in Excalibur. But we're not.

To be fair, there isn't any conspiracy or hidden agenda to make Kwannon happen at Betsy's expense. Literally no one in the X-Office cares about Kwannon. If Jordan D. White hadn't suggested she be included in Hellions to balance out the male:female ratio, she'd be in limbo after Fallen Angels. The fact that now she is generally liked is more a testament to Zeb Wells' fantastic writing, not the character herself. And to be fair, Hellions is currently one of the worst-selling X-books so it's not like everyone is going crazy about Kawnnon, just the occasional smart asses from X-Twitter. Remember everyone thought Kwannon was annoying af in Fallen Angels and no one cared for her back then.
The actual problem here is that both Jordan D. White and Tini Howard think they're doing a great job in elevating Betsy in Excalibur when in fact they're only damaging her. To make things worse, they dismiss any sort of criticism as raging nerds missing "half-naked ninja Psylocke" as if we didn't get a great Betsy in Disassembled.
