Betsy is beautiful in the new costume. The armor doesn't hide her feminine shape and its proportions are perfect. The cape isn't too long nor too short. The combination of colors is pleasing and the purple hair complete the perfection.
The wonderful art softened the brunt of the words put into Betsy's mouth that made me see red. Last thing I want is Betsy accused as evil and skin robber when it's the other way round.
Kiki, You're not alone. While I can understand perhaps the motivation behind it, the fact that there's this whole 'guilt' thing and 'body I stole' stuff just really left a weird taste in her mouth. I'm not saying there shouldn't be any awkwardness, and sure enough, the entire mess is unfortunate and did not age well at all (If Nicieza had JUST READ THE ORIGINAL ACTS STORYLINE... stupid body swap BS...not that it would have helped the 'not aging well', but at least there wouldn't be the 'hijacked someone's body' thing), it wasn't Betsy's fault that it happened. Seriously, what was she supposed to do?
But other than that (and oh dear, I did sort of run off at the mouth, I do apologize) I loved this. The art is gorgeous and Betsy as Captain Britain in that design delights me to no end (I love how nonchalant she is at the end though. Girl has seen it all and is barely phased!). Pocky having a Prince complex makes me giggle. And I hope Brian makes it through :(
Ikr Tini and the fallen Angels writer blaming Betsy. What was she supposed to do? Kill herself because she lived? Or find a way to let Kwannon live and let herself die? Like.. "yeah I'm a noble person with good intentions but I feel SO bad that this criminal who murdered people is dead! Why couldnt it have been me???" Lmao I absolutely cannot stand the attitude both these writers have towards Betsy.
@randybear I agree, I hate that writers are shifting blame and guilt on Betsy for the body swap. She was the one who sufffered the most out of it and shouldn’t feel at all guilty
@randybear Betsy is a survivor and she chose the optimal choice to live and learn. If Betsy's body hadn't contracted the Legacy Virus everything would be resolved but I suspect Bob Harras the editorial ghoul interfered and objected against Betsy going back to her body. Harras is famous for ruining stories and plots of the best writers and Chris Claremont must be one of his victims.
Claremont also had a bad habit of just plotting shit with no endgame just assuming he would have all the time in the world to do his shit but he was smug IMO and fans suffered for it lol
In addition to Harras being a writer's worst nightmare he is to this day best pals with Jim Lee the creator of the thong bathing suit and both work for DC at top spots. Conspiracies, conspiracies.
I wasn't sold on Betsy's Captain Britain costume looking at the previews and concept art because it isn't the final product. With safety I can say the new costume is attractive. Marcus To made the right choices in his art to help the book and its story to grandstand.
Kiki I hate that writers confuse the body swap story in their minds and blame Betsy for theft. Betsy was abducted from the streets of Madripoor by Matsuo Tsurayaba to serve the Mandarin as his slave. Her memory was gone and writers should blame Claremont for female abuse. The introduction of Kwannon to the story is responsible for ruining Betsy's reputation and complicating Psylocke's history like a Gordian knot.
X-Man I believe Brian was speaking for Morgan Le Fay and her spell on him. Morgan put a powerful hex on Brian to change him in to her black knight and Psylocke's telepathy bounced off his magical armor.
It would be cool if at some point we got a mini series or maybe an arc in Hickmans XMen with the magical mutants like Betsy Magik Pixie. Who else am I missing?

ReplyDeleteAgreed Psi Girl. To as expected did an amazing job. Her hair really pops with the union jack colors.

ReplyDeleteI hate when victims are turned to offenders. Deception and injustice is a thing I can't let come to pass.

ReplyDeleteI wonder why Brian says Betsy's powers wont work on him? Didn't she mind control him into killing Jamie before?
