  1. Kwannon and Laura look nearly identical in their face lol what a way to represent a POC just draw her white

  2. @randybear,

I'm not surprised. Most artist can't give characters different facial features & some artist I know feel intimidated when designing ethnic features.

    1. Read Killmonger before going around disparaging writers.

  4. "Psylocke is joined..."

Me when I read that: Uugh.

  5. I'm super happy that Kwannon's hair is very brown here. It was purple on the first cover maybe they decided to drop the purple in her hair. I hope so! And honestly I would really like her to have the crimson dawn. I dont think it fit Betsy but I think it's more a better fit for Kwannon.

  6. Yeah. Kwannon had purple hair in the #1 cover, now she's got dark brown hair in the #2 cover. I think our complaints about the butterfly and everything else might have been heard.

Anyways. This is the first time I've been excited for ALL books. I mean, except X-Force. That one looks like a dud.

Can't wait to see Betsy interacting with Rogue! They're usually always on the same team, but they never got to have what Betsy and Storm had. I hope Excalibur develops their relationship.

    1. I hope so Unknown! I also noticed a lot of the CB fanart has the butterfly included. Looks like fans are expecting and realize Betsy is the butterfly.

And lowkey the CB design is growing on me.

And I'm curious what's going on with Rogue

  7. I still hate the flowers.

Why would Kwannon have anything other than purple hair? That's the genetic hair colour of that body.

I assume it's just bad colouring.

  9. The only time Psylocke didn't have the butterfly effect was when she lost her telepathy.

Before then, she had it. It may not have appeared in every single issue, but then due to bad writing, Psylocke didn't often use her powers to do anything other than generate her psychic knife.

    It's visible in X-Men #1, #5, #9, #15/16, #17/18 just off the top of my head.

Happy to go back and provide a detailed list if people want to keep insisting that it was 'absent for a decade'.

  10. Lil question. Is this a site about Kwannon or Betsy?

  11. I'm excited to see what happens with Betsy and Kwannon ! So exited to see Kwannon develop character wise, I hope she has a good writer and love that Betsy is still an X-Man in Krakoa!

  14. I hope that Kwanno’s hair really has been changed. Even if Jamie did reconstruct her body to have purple hair, she may have been like, “Fuck this. I prefer my natural color and this is Betsy’s style anyway.” Now all she needs is a new uniform; not the thong that Betsy wore tiresomely forever while in her body. It really is a tacky look.

Also, have we ever gotten definitive conclusions that Jaime actually created a copy of Kwannon’s body? Or did he just resurrect the old body with modifications to its “strings” to make it resistant to reality changes?

    1. Rahsaan yeah it was never stated he duplicated Kwannons body just that when he found her he wound her up tight with mental and reality warping defenses.

  15. Wait, so Betsy's flowers on her hair are red? I thought they were supposed to be white... I think I'd prefer if they were white, at least.

As for Kwannon's hair color, I'm not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, her dying her hair brown would help to set her apart from Betsy's shadow and give her some identity of her own. On the other hand, I must confess I like her better with purple hair...

Oh well, let's wait and see how both women will turn out in this new X-era. I always hated Kwannon, but I am kinda interested in her carrying on the Psylocke mantle (and having X-23 in the same book doesn't hurt), and Betsy as Captain Britain looks great! Plus, I love that the Excalibur solicitation mentions she's still a citizen of Krakoa, so she'll likely have occasional appearances in the main X-Men book and take part on the eventual crossovers.

    1. Right. You can recall the times the butterfly appeared in the 90d because it was so seldom. Its appeared so much more consistently since 2009 to the point where you couldnt recall everytime it was drawn compared to during the 90s. Joe Mad literally drew the butterfly only once.

  17. Also Betsy's hair looks more magenta here than lavendar. On the first cover it looked straight up pink. I see the colorists already keeping things inconsistent

  19. Why does Leinel make everyone a butterface?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Also, if Kwannon is going back to brunette, then colorists need to start coloring Elizabeth’s hair as dark purple as it was in Marvel UK and pre-Kwannon retcon.

  21. I don't want to see Kwannon with brown hair. Is she going to wear brown contacts as well?

I've come off such a high with Kwannon's resurrection, and it looking like Betsy was moving in an amazing new direction...

And now it all just seems like a mess again.

And to respond to a point from earlier, when Jamie resurrected Betsy, the implications was that he made her a completely new body.

When she died in X-Treme X-Men she was autopsied, and then the body was given to Brian (and I presume buried).

Betsy woke up in the exact spot she died.

So I guess there's a corpse of Kwannon buried somewhere.

    1. Benjamin, I thought that too, but since Jamie can literally manipulate reality, is it possible he put the autopsied body back where it died after making his modifications? Marvel has never said.

  22. @Unknown Ha ha ha ha! Funny you think this blog belongs to Kakwannon. It's Betsy's blog all the way up to infinity salty ninja lover! Get the hell outta here!

  23. Betsy looks superb. If only her hair remained LIGHT PURPLE and NOT cotton candy freaking PINK!

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's possible Jamie got a chicken and transformed it into Betsy's new body.

By that point he could pretty much manipulate reality as he chose.

But the fact that the Crimson Dawn was missing makes it seem to me that, logically, he just resurrected Betsy in a facsimile of the last form he had seen her in.

(Why he didn't just create a version of her original body is pretty much down to Marvel wanting to keep 'sexy ninja Psylocke'; though that would have made more sense.)

    1. Didn't he create it later on? In the X-Force comic I believe? He used it to tempt Betsy as I recall. That might be why he didn't bring her back in the original body the first time, so he could use it for personal gain at a later date lol.

  25. Are people seriously satisfied with this lineup of books after all of the hype about Hickman?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It looks very underwhelming. I found it ironic that the theme for not revisiting the past or reusing themes was lost on naming the series HOUSE OF X

      Delete
    2. I find that so much of the X-Men is being lost for the sake of creating a new storyline that had to be explained in detail through additional pages in a comic book.

      Delete
  26. Nah Marvel wanted to justify selling the issues at $5.99 by simply adding additional pages of text

    ReplyDelete
  27. Two completely different stories, many years apart.

Jamie can create a new body for Betsy anytime he likes, so no, he wouldn't have had one he was 'saving'.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I didn't think he had one for saving lol,I meant I wonder if he didn't bring her back in the original body, because he could possibly tempt her with the possibility at a later date to try to get something out of her.

  28. Vargas is Jamie. The story was made up by him. He knew Slaymaster was Betsy's biggest fear when he injured her to death and wanted to create another in a new face. The death of Betsy in the Asian body never happened and Betsy was sleeping in Spain. She never died and was thought dead. A dead person can't function the normal way Betsy functioned. Jamie manipulated everybody to think Betsy died and made her immune to reality warps. A mad human likes to make contact with aliens and Jamie is crazy making Vargas crazy too. That is why the Asian body can use the crimson dawn instead of Betsy's butterfly energy. The only thing needed is a writer who will make the Asian body unique.

  29. The X-Men books looking most interesting are X-Men, Excalibur, the Marauders and the New Mutants. X-Force missed Warpath, Shatterstar, Cannonball and Blink. Quentin is overrated like X-23.

  30. I am loving House of X and Powers of Ten. So far Hickman’s reimagining is fantastic. The X-Men were too mired in really terrible writing from about 1993 until June 2019, so I’m here with h scrapping literally almost everything from that time period save for some cool characters I adore, like M who he is using.
