As bad as her objectification was in the 90s, it did keep her relevant (that and her transformation into a ninja, as ninjas were very popular back then). Some of her teammates from the Outback era either faded for a long time (Dazzler, Longshot) or got relegated to satellite books (Havok), and even nowadays never managed to reach her popularity (yes, even with Havok being the leader of Marvel's supposedly main superhero team and Dazzler being a main character in a book written by Marvel's most famous writer nowadays).

As for the telekinesis debate... well, I also prefer her using it in more conventional ways. But Betsy never used her psychic powers the same way as other mutants, did she? Even when she was just a telepath, she could use the psychic knife. Plus, the way Wood showed her using her TK this issue was far more conventional than what Claremont did with her and Rachel years ago (remember Betsy becoming invisible? Rachel rearranging the atoms of her clothes to change her outfit or remodelling herself into a dinosaur?), so I'm okay with it.FSakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10462635398072983026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596031626753539266.post-3381184588408699892014-07-28T23:54:17.489-03:002014-07-28T23:54:17.489-03:00Xiaodave,

It was after he left that things went downhill for 20 years until Remender. However, you are right. She would've faded into obscurity with the Acts of Vegeance storyline, which I did like. Telekinesis would be a natural evolution... the way her telpathy was from her initial precognitive flashes (which I wish she still had).

What I don't like is the gimmicky nature of energy projection in the form of weapons. At that point, it's not even telekinesis. Telekinesis is the ability to physically move objects with one's mind. All this other crap she is doing is a whole separate made-up power... and it serves no purpose other than looking cool. That same kind of thing was what turned her into a slutty-looking, cardboard character back during the 90s.

She's come so far since Remender rehabilitated her. And although Betsy was always close to him, it seems the writers at Marvel will ignore that to make him interact with other people instead (like X-23, Kitty, Jubilee, etc.).

As for Psylocke teaching the young mutants how to defend themselves, yes, that would be cool. In fact, had Wood stayed in this book, I guess he would show it happening, as he's been giving more attention to the young X-Men in the latest issues, but I'm not sure if Guggenheim (or whoever will come after him, assuming this book won't be cancelled when he leaves) will ever show that.FSakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10462635398072983026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596031626753539266.post-41416866328031868342014-07-19T11:45:02.962-03:002014-07-19T11:45:02.962-03:00It is so nice too see Betsy as a tutor for the you...It is so nice too see Betsy as a tutor for the younger mutants.
